San Diego Education Directory
San Diego, with its 70 miles of beautiful coast, is the southernmost large city in the state, just north of the Mexican border. You have your choice of strutting your stuff at Pacific Beach or getting away from it all at more undeveloped quiet beaches. The campus of UC San Diego is worth seeing, too.
Things to See & Do:
- Old Town and Chicano Park celebrate the San Diego’s Latino population and heritage.
- Balboa Park offers 15 museums, including the San Diego Air & Space Museum, the San Diego Museum of Art, and more. The Old Globe Theatre is based on Shakespeare’s home theatre in London.
- Hotel Del Coronado, a true “grand hotel” is the focal point for Coronado Island, just off the San Diego coast.
- The San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park is probably the best, as well as most famous, zoo in the world.
- Check out the Journey to Atlantis ride at Seaworld, then see Shamu, polar bears, beluga whales, and manatees.
- Go shopping in the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, Hillcrest, or La Jolla. Boutiques, galleries, and outlet malls abound.
Nightlife:
- The Casbah is a great place to hear local bands. The club has a low cover charge and a relaxed attitude. You can play pool, pinball, or video games in the back room.
- Pacific Beach offers restaurants and night clubs with style and sea breezes.
- The Bitter End in the Gaslamp Quarter has three levels fitted out with antiques and fireplaces. If you’re over 21, try their Black Martini.
